Senior Automotive Engineer
About the role
ACME Auto Inc. is looking for an experienced Senior Automotive Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team at our Austin headquarters. You will lead the development and optimization of vehicle systems on cutting-edge programs that shape the future of sustainable mobility across North American and international markets.
You will collaborate with design, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure our vehicles meet ACME standards for safety, performance and reliability — across electric, hybrid and conventional powertrains.
Responsibilities
Technical leadership
- Lead the design, development and testing of vehicle systems and components
- Drive feasibility studies and technical analyses for new platforms
- Develop and validate engineering specifications
- Oversee prototype development and test programs
- Ensure compliance with international automotive standards
Project management
- Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously, from concept to production
- Coordinate with suppliers and external partners
- Prepare and present technical reports to leadership
- Track timelines, budgets and deliverables
- Identify and mitigate technical risks
Quality & innovation
- Drive continuous-improvement initiatives under the ACME Production System (APS)
- Implement cost-reduction strategies without compromising quality
- Track emerging technologies and industry trends
- Take part in root-cause analysis and problem solving
- Contribute to the development of engineering standards
Who we are looking for
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Master's degree preferred
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive engineering or a related industry
- Track record of successfully delivered automotive programs
- Experience with vehicle development processes
- Proficiency with CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks or equivalent)
Technical skills
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems (powertrain, chassis, electrical, body)
- Proficiency with simulation tools (FEA, CFD)
- Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of IATF 16949, FMEA and DVP&R standards
- Familiarity with hybrid and electric technologies (a plus)
